February 16, 2010

Winter 2010 is upon us....Our first update for the year..

We’re still here!!!
During this time every year, the band hunkers down from the performance schedule as it takes a break during the winter months to continue composing new material for the next CD, as well as performing with their other respective projects (DOG HOUSE, Heroes for Ghosts, and SOUL ON TAP).

As the economy influences many of the bands gig’s, FOOTNOTE hopes to be returning to many of the same Spring / Summer festivals and events as in the recent past for 2010, so please check the performance schedule early spring for upcoming dates.

In the meantime, FOOTNOTE has also hooked up with Jeff Cosco, Stu Brown and crew at Sore Thumb Radio, a local entertainment internet search tool aimed at promoting local talent.

STR is the only comprehensive and in-depth local music web resource for greater Rochester.

STR lists local artists and their music – on the web.

STR connects local music to local audiences and abroad.

For more info, please visit www.sorethumbradio.com or click onto Footnote’s link page to listen to who’s playing what here in Rochester...

Speaking of gig’s and other projects, Heroes for Ghosts, a Pink Floyd tribute (which includes John Covach on Guitar, Jimmy Warlick on Bass, Mike Norton on Lead Vocals, Pete Halladay on Keyboards, and FOOTNOTE / DOG HOUSE drummer Keith Welch), will take the Water Street stage on February 20, performing Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety and featuring Bill Tiberio as guest saxophonist and Alana Cahoon on vocals.

Heroes for Ghosts will open the show for the phenomenal YES Tribute band Going for the One as they perform a set of classic Yes music, featuring tracks drawn from The Yes Album, Fragile, and Close to the Edge, plus the full-length version of "America." This exciting ensemble brings together five superb musicians who each have a rich history in performing progressive rock. Lead singer Jimmy Warlick possesses the high range necessary for Yes music and delivers the vocals with skill and confidence. The rest of the band is a combination of virtuoso players: John Covach on guitars, Chris Meeker on bass, Rich DellaPietra on keyboards, and Mario Encina on drums. Everybody in the band sings, allowing the group to accurately reproduce not only the demanding and powerful instrumental passages, but also the lush vocal harmonies found on the studio albums.

The combination of Yes and Pink Floyd music will make for a fired-up night of epic 70s music at Water Street that will have you saying “groovy” like you really mean it.

And continuing onward on the subject of other projects, DOG HOUSE is also sporting a new line–up for 2010 that includes guitarist Chris McKay and keyboardist Chris Ott, both from one of Rochester’s favorite party bands “Boy’s Lie”, along with Footnote’s very own Herb Renke on bass.

Herb will be joining the Dog’s on stage at the end of April, but look for DOG HOUSE 8pm Friday March 12th at the Finger Lakes Race Track with guest bassist Chris Northington.

Coming soon is more FOOTNOTE related news!

See you soon..

August 18, 2009

It's been a very busy summer for Footnote.  In addition to putting together some new material for the next release, we were very pleased to play in some new (to us) venues, including "Downstairs at the German House" and "Pane Vino".  It's always great to play new places and meet new people, and we hope to get back to these places soon.

It's summer, so the festival scene was in full swing.  We were fortunate enough to open the "14 Fridays at the Village Gate" series on a beautiful evening, with a wonderful appreciative crowd. We then visited our friends out at Rivers Run for their "Concerts in the Park" for another great evening of music and wine. Then it was off to the "Rochester Harbor Festival", which is always very exciting for us. We made our first, and hopefully not last, visit to the "Williamson Firefly Concert Series" before heading back home for the "Clarissa Street Reunion", a Rochester tradition that is always a pleasure and a privilege to be a part of.

Check out our calendar for upcoming dates, which includes a return to "Lovin' Cup" at RIT. We're very excited to be joined by a guest vocalist for this one; Harold Pannell is a dynamic, extremely talented singer whose love of singing shows every time he grabs a mic. Look for Harold to join us at different shows throughout the year. We hope to see you there on SUNDAY AUGUST 23 at 7:00.

FOOTNOTE alumni bands DOG HOUSE and SOUL ON TAP have been very busy playing at this summer at the many local venues and clubs in and around Rochester, Farmington, Canandaigua, and Victor.

Also be on the look out for Rochester’s own Pink Floyd tribute band “Heroes for Ghosts” (www.pinkfloydtribute.net) which includes FOOTNOTE drummer Keith Welch in the line up, as well as John Covach on Guitar, Jimmy Warlick on Bass, Mike Norton on Lead Vocals, and Pete Halladay on Keyboards.

That’s it for the moment. Talk to you soon…

May 28, 2009

As some of you know, FOOTNOTE was one of the bands participating last month at the “BAILOUT FOR GRANT”, a concert fundraiser for 4 year old Grant Engelson, who’s battling Acute Lymphomic Leukemia. The concert was sponsored by the Oasis Christian Fellowship and it turned out to be a great success for the little guy.

The concert raised $5000 for Grant’s medical expenses and the band would like to express its sincere thanks to everyone, to OCF, and especially to Wayne Richardson for putting it all together to make it happen for Grant. Thank you all!

Well, we think it’s safe to say its finally summer!

The guys in the band are still working on new material for the next CD as well as busy performing with their alumni projects (DOG HOUSE and SOUL ON TAP).

FOOTNOTE’s next show will be 7pm this Sat May 30th at Pane Vino, located in the city of Rochester at 175 North Water Street. It’s the bands first gig there and we hope you will come join us.

On other related performance news, 2 additional dates since the last news update have the band performing Thursday June 4th at “Downstairs at The German House” and again returning this year on Saturday August 15th at The Clarissa Street Reunion.

Please check the performance schedule often for all the latest shows.

More news to follow in the weeks ahead..

April 5, 2009

Happy Easter to all!!
A brief update…

The guys in the band are continuing onward with new material for Footnote’s next CD as well as performing with their alumni projects (DOG HOUSE and SOUL ON TAP) that are presently out there in the Rochester club scene.

Speaking of performances, FOOTNOTE will be taking a break from composing to start performing in the surrounding area beginning 7pm Sunday April 19th when it returns to Lovin Cup at their “Jazz on Sundays’” (www.lovincup.com).

Lovin'cup

And then their off to Eagle Vale on Friday April 24th at 8pm

Eagle Vale

Notably on Sunday April 26, 2009 FOOTNOTE will be playing the “BAILOUT FOR GRANT” concert fundraiser for 4 year old Grant Engelson, who’s battling Acute Lymphomic Leukemia. The prognosis for Grant is very promising, but he is only ¼ of the way through his 24 month treatment process and his family has racked up some very hefty medical bills.

The concert is sponsored by the Oasis Christian Fellowship and will be held at the Webster Parks and Recreation building located at 985 Ebner Rd., Webster New York 14580 and run from 2pm – 6pm

Other bands performing will be “OCFC” and “The Christian Brothers Band” and there will also be a Silent Auction and as well as T-shirts and CD's for sell.

More details and information will follow shortly as they become available to FOOTNOTE, but the concert is to help ease some of these expenses, especially during this ever changing economic climate.

On other related performance news, additional dates also have the band performing at The Village Gate, Rivers Run, The Rochester Harbor Festival, and the Firefly Concert Series as well as other shows in between.

Please check the performance schedule often for all the latest shows that are being added.

More to come and we hope to see you at some of our shows…

During the holiday hiatus, some of the guys have also been busy performing with their other respective side projects. FOOTNOTE drummer Keith Welch has formed yet another band called “DOG HOUSE” that also includes FOOTNOTE keyboardist Jon Tucker, and features several other well known musicians in the line up. DOG HOUSE is the up and coming Party/ Blues / Funk / Rock band from the burbs of Rochester New York and can be seen playing in and around the area.

November 1, 2008

As we noted in our last news update, the band has been very busy composing new material for our next CD. We have just completed two new original songs and have several more in the works.

We have also added a couple of brand new FOOTNOTE cover arrangements (from Marvin Gaye and Norman Brown) to the bands setlist. We’ll debut these at FOOTNOTE’s next gig.

Speaking of the next gig, FOOTNOTE will be performing 8pm Thursday Nov 13th at the “Lovin Cup”, RIT’s new Park Point campus location. For more details please see the performance schedule.

We’d like send a big “Thank You!” out to WJZR for keeping us in rotation.  Tune into 105.9 FM and you’re likely to hear a few tunes from our ‘Common Ground’ cd.

October 1, 2008

The world is getting crazier by the minute since our last update.

We wish we could tell you we’ve just returned from a World Tour supporting our the bands latest CD “Common Ground” but the reality is some of the guys in the band are coming back to town from their well needed vacations and since all the leaves have started to fall, and the snowblowers are in need a tune up, we’re getting ready for fall clean up…its tough picking up a rake instead of our instruments!!

That doesn’t mean we’ve stopped playing and the band has already been very busy writing & composing new material for the next CD, which we are gearing for its release mid 2009.

And in addition to requests from everyone at our live shows to record a live CD, those plans are also in the works.

For FOOTNOTE, our outdoor schedule for this spring & summer was absolutely fantastic for the band to say the least and again we sincerely want to thank all of you who came to all the shows and festivals, even with the unpredictable weather that seemed to precede our arrival at any given venue….we always love playing in Upstate New York and we’re already working on next years schedule.

We also want to thank local Rochester area radio stations Northcoast 105.9 & Jazz 90.1 (especially Lee Rust and Gary O) for spinning “Common Ground” and all their support they have continually given to FOOTNOTE.

We’ll still continue performing this year at private events and maybe toss in a couple of club dates in between, so please check the performance schedule often for all the latest.

Lots of feedback from our cable access television gig on “The Music Show”. It seems that a lot of people do watch cable access after all!! We hear its still playing on the air all through Upstate New York.

The Images & Sound page has also been updated with video footage from recent performances at The Clarissa Street Reunion and The Park Ave Festival courtesy of Bobby Kidd, one of FOOTNOTE’s favorite fans who has posted even more footage from those gigs on Youtube.

Please check out the updates and drop us a line.

That’s it for now. The world is changing fast and we hope our next update finds all of you well.

Peace & keep the faith...

Lots to comment on…
The bands solo concert performance and CD release party at The Amphitheatre in Penfield was a great show. The weather again has played a major factor on another FOOTNOTE gig, but the fans came to see us anyways and 250+ people showed up on a wet Tuesday evening. I’d like to thank all of you for coming to see the show. I know most of Monroe County and the surrounding areas were raining Cats & Dogs and a lot of people whom we’re on the way to the show had turned around because of the rain and assumed it was cancelled. Ironically only 20 or so rain drops actually landed on the crowd for the entire evening. The Penfield Amphitheatre is absolutely a beautiful venue to go see and watch any performance.

Penfield’s crew and stage support treated the band first class. Thank you Penfield!! We’re working on returning there again next year and hopefully the weather will be good to us. At least it’s not snowing…(I apologize for using that bad word so early in the season)

As previously mentioned in an earlier update, the bands television taping for the cable access show appropriately titled “The Music Show” can now be seen in the Regional Upstate New York area via to all Time Warner cable customers. Please contact us at info@footnoteband.com to let us know where & when you saw FOONOTE on “The Music Show”. We look forward to your comments.

In other news, our show at The Park Ave Festival had us on a stage delay due to lightning strikes and even more rain!!!. The stage crew quickly put down the rubber mats below us to save the occasional exploding musician from electrocution.  We took the stage 15 minutes late and although it was very very very humid, we had a blast. And still, thousands of people were everywhere enjoying the festival and the rain didn’t stop anyone. Rochestarian’s are the most resilient people I know..

We’ll be away from the festival circuit this week as we’re back “in the clubs” this weekend at the Rush Creekside Inn at 8 pm Sat Aug 9th.

And don’t forget to also mark your calendars to see FOOTNOTE next Friday Aug 15th at 8pm at
The New York Wine & Culinary Center and Saturday August 16th at 1pm at The Clarissa Street Reunion on the Jazz Stage.

Please check the bands performance schedule for more info.

See you soon..

July 1, 2008

Seems that the weather has been cooperating during several of the bands outdoor festival shows as FOOTNOTE manages to keep the rain away again! And as recently experienced at the Rochester Harbor Festival. Several heavy isolated T-Storms came through 2 hours before the band was to perform, but it turned out to be yet another beautiful day in Rochester. Rochestarians are an amazing group of resilient people that don’t seem to mind whatever the weather is and again there were thousands of people on hand to enjoy the Harbor Festival despite the threat of even more T-Storms.

Speaking of performing, the band is taking the 4th of July off to enjoy a well deserved break from their instruments to get reacquainted with their BBQ’s and spend the holiday with their families, but later this month we’ll be performing at the Canandaigua Summer Concert Series on Fri July 11th and again at Penfield's Cool Jazz Series at the Amphitheatre on Tuesday July 22nd (and possibly a gig or two in between).

Additional August dates are also in the works… Please check the performance schedule for the latest details.

In other news, FOOTNOTE is also returning to Cable TV this week as the band hits one of the local television studios for a Cable Music Show taping. The hour-long show is featuring FOOTNOTE in its entirety, that will also include 4-5 songs performed live from the bands latest CD “COMMON GROUND” along with interviews with the guys. Stay tuned for more details.

We want to wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July and we look forward to seeing you soon

Peace,

SWEET SUMMER!

It was another beautiful day in Rochester as FOOTNOTE managed to keep the rain away at the Lilac Festival.  There was a huge crowd on hand for the show on Mother’s Day!.  We later found out that more than 80,000 people attended the festival that day! We’re also very pleased that WHEC (NBC) Channel 10 used FOOTNOTE’s performance to highlight their 11:00 News coverage of the day’s events. We also graciously like to thank Rochester for having us again this year at the Lilac Festival.

On June 8th, we’ll be performing the private corporate event, but next up on our Festival calendar is the Rochester Harbor & Carousel Festival at Charlotte Beach. We’ll be on the main stage overlooking beautiful Lake Ontario on Saturday evening June 21 from 6:30 - 8:00 and we’re hoping to see you there!

We’ll also be at several other festivals throughout the summer, including the Canandaigua Summer Concert Series, Penfield's Cool Jazz Series, Park Ave Festival, and Clarissa Street Reunion, and we’ll be mixing in several club dates as well.  Be sure to check back for the latest details.

And as always, don’t forget to check out our latest CD release “Common Ground”, available here at http://footnoteband.com/merchandise.html and at Borders Books & Music, the Bop Shop, or Barnes & Noble all in the Rochester area..

Well, that’s some of the band’s latest and notable news for now. We look forward to seeing you at the Harbor Festival!

Til then,

SPRING HAS SPRUNG!

And Footnote is excited to celebrate the beginning of a new season of sunny-day gigs with a LILAC FESTIVAL show on Sunday May 11 (Happy Mother’s Day!!).  Look for us on the Main Stage at 2:30.  The world-famous Lilac Festival is always a great time, and this year will be no exception.  For complete schedule info: http://www.lilacfestival.com/musicschedule.html

This doesn’t mean we’re done with the indoor gigs.  We’ve had a lot fun over the winter playing in some of the smaller venues, and we will continue to do these.  The best way to find out where we’ll be (and when) whether indoors or out, is to subscribe to our email list.  That way you’ll always get the “inside track”.  You can sign up here: https://www.footnoteband.com/mailinglist.html

Of course, you can always check the schedule on the website for updates. Check frequently; it promises to be a busy summer!

We’ve gotten quite a bit of positive feedback on our recent radio and TV appearances! It’s gratifying to find out that people are listening.  Thanks folks!

Happy Holidays from FOOTNOTE!

We are extremely pleased to announce the arrival of our debut CD ‘COMMON GROUND’, which we have completed just in time for the holidays. This collection of tunes showcases the unique sounds of FOOTNOTE: it’s eclectic and diverse, yet fits together as neatly as the puzzle pieces on its cover. We hope you’ll agree that this cd makes a great gift or stocking stuffer! You can purchase the cd from our new Merchandise Page, where you can also hear some sound bytes. In addition to the cd, we’ll be adding even more stuff to the merchandise section in the near future.

In keeping with COMMON GROUND’s interlocking puzzle pieces theme, you’ll notice that we’ve given our website a new look and feel. Take a few minutes to check out the site and let us know what you think.

So, what’s next? Well, a CD release party of course! We expect to announce all the info and place in the very near future as details are finalized and we’ll be sure to let you know.

Meanwhile, we’re busy behind the scenes setting up what looks to be a very busy and exciting 2008. We can’t rest just because it’s a little chilly outside! We’re already engaged with several festival, concert, and club events, and this is in addition to creating fresh new material. Please check back for schedule updates.

And please have a safe and happy holiday!

All the best,

FOOTNOTE

During this time period, we have scaled down our live performance’s to support the recording schedule, so please check often for new performance updates we’ll be adding after initial tracking has been completed.

Speaking of which, our last gig before we hit the recording button will be on Friday September 21 in the Village Gate courtyard in Village Gate from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, located here in Rochester at 274. N. Goodman St. And we’ll even be performing our upcoming CD in it’s entirety at this venue!!, and of coarse in addition to our interpretations of songs from Steely Dan, Acoustic Alchemy and George Benson, and more from which you all have heard us play before and have grown to love.

So please come down to see, listen, and say hello to the band as it will also be Footnote’s last outdoor venue for the season (before the snow comes...boo hoo).

We would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of our fans for all your support throughout this spring & summer as we keep seeing a lot of the same faces wherever we go and also bringing new faces along with you!!. Your support means alot to Footnote and we hope to see even more new faces in the new year.

Very busy!!….That’s how we describe Footnote these days.

We had some great times playing at The Canandaigua Art & Music Festival (July 21) and Spencerport Canal Days (July 28).  It’s very gratifying to see increasing numbers of returning friends, not to mention the many new faces. Every show is just so much fun, and the crowds seem to enjoy it, so we’re adding more events.

Check out the updated calendar, where we’ve added shows at the Park Avenue Festival (Aug 4), the Fairport Food and Music Festival (Aug 25), and two club shows at McCool’s in Geneva (Sep 29 and Oct 27).  Our Village Gate show had to be rescheduled due to a travel conflict, and we expect to have a new date locked in very soon.

For the Park Ave Fest this weekend (Sat Aug 4), we’ll be performing on the Main Stage located on the corner of Oxford St. & Park Ave from 11:30am – 12:45pm. Please stop on by and say hi to the band.

For more info go to http://www.park-avenue.org/events.html

June 26, 2007

Well, we followed up our Rochester International Jazz Festival show with a couple of shows this past weekend.

On Friday we were at the Rochester Harbor and Carousel Festival, where we played right at the shore of Lake Ontario. It was a beautiful day at the lake, and everybody had a great time. It was nice to see so many people enjoying the weather, the park, and the music of Footnote. We got some video of some kids dancing on the beach! One nice thing about festivals is that the audience isn’t confined to an area just in front of the stage; people all around the park enjoy the music.

Then on Saturday it was an evening performance at High Fidelity. It’s good to see some familiar faces as we recognize people who have seen us at previous shows. It was an enthusiastic group and we had lot of fun. We certainly hope to be back at High Fidelity in the near future.

Then it’s back to the festival circuit, as we play at the Canandaigua Arts Festival (July 21 at 11:30 AM) and Spencerport Canal Days (July 28 at 2:00). More on these shows, as well as schedule info for August, later.

Stay cool…

June 18 2007

We just finished our performance at the Rochester International Jazz Festival. The crowd was terrific and everybody had a great time. We would like to send our thanks to the awesome staff and stage crew at The Big Tent for treating us like VIP’s. It was first class all the way!

Thanks also to John Nugent for bringing this tremendous festival to our fair city.

It really brings life to our area and gives us all a peek at what our city could be. We are honored to have been a part of it. We’ll be updating the website with pictures and video clips from that performance in the near future.

Now it’s onward… We hope to see all you vacationers (and anybody playing hooky from work) at the Rochester Harbor & Carousel Festival this Friday June 22! We’ll be at the Main Stage Gazebo at Ontario Beach Park from 2:00pm - 3:30pm. More info? Go to

http://www.cityofrochester.gov/mayor/newsreleases/index.cfm?release=2512

It will be another great day in the sun and the weather forecast calls for clear skies and temp’s in the 70’s. We hope to see you there.

The very next day it’s on to HIGH FIDELITY (formerly Milestones) located at 170 East Ave for a show on Saturday June 23 from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. Please go to http://www.highfidelityrochester.com for more info. We’re going to be closer to the crowd at this show, so it promises to be a bit more intimate of a performance. We hear the food on the menu is very good too, so please come early to get a good seat.

We’ll be performing at several more festivals in July and we’ll be posting those dates shortly.

Please check the website shortly for new pix and info in the days ahead…

Spring 2006 – Spring 2007 The beginning

We were musicians from various projects brought together to share a common vision. For a little while, we were just another cover band searching for our sound as we continued onward putting all the pieces of the puzzle together.

During this time, we were steadfastly achieving our goal of becoming an original band.

It has now come into fruition...
